Bob Davey gives us a detailed account of the works of God in China from the nineteenth century onwards. It will inform and encourage believers in its depiction of the fire of God's Spirit spreading through China unquenched by persecution and suffering. Of special interest is the desire of the Chinese house-church movements to root themselves in historic Christianity. His emphasis on the indigenous Church and its leaders is very welcome. His call to prayer as the Chinese Church embarks on mission beyond its borders is timely.
